USEFUL INFORMATION
CLIMATE
Sardinia is an island with a mostly mild climate throughout the year, although in winter it sometimes reaches low temperatures.
The preferential seasons for practicing these activities are the intermediate, spring and autumn, while the summer in case of very high temperatures is not recommended, unless they are made up early. Winter apart from the festive periods, in addition to the colder climate and short days, it is not very receptive to tourist facilities.
In Supramonte the climate is generally quite mild and the presence of various mountain ranges and a sort of natural barrier, which separates the latter from the sea, creates a certain thermal difference between the coast and the internal valleys. But what really affects the climate of the area and the whole island are the winds.
The wind or the currents coming from the south usually carry hot and humid air and the formation of cloudy mounds that gather at low altitudes. The cooler winds from the north or north-west sweep the air from the humidity, but often also lead to instability and thunderstorms. The months of June and October are usually the periods with the best weather conditions.
RULES AND OTHER THINGS NOT TO FORGET
Remember that any activity you decide to practice, either independently or accompanied that the natural environment must be respected and therefore not only good rule and obviously never leave anything; indeed, if possible, it would also be better to bring back the waste left by others.
These are the rules imposed by the municipalities recently:
1) absolute ban on free camping throughout the territory.Only stops on equipped areas are allowed.
2) prohibition of lighting fires.
3) Prohibition of mooring to boats or similar in the entire stretch of coast, in the foreshores and in coves. It is necessary to keep to the distances set by the law (150m).
Other tips are:
– never harass the many grazing animals, which can be found both on foot and on the road (often on the SS 125 in the Dorgali-Baunei section you will find animals that stop quietly in the middle of the road. Be careful not to run over them.)
